Chapter 1 Teaser

Ginny didn’t really remember much after that moment. She was in a daze with Harry half carrying her into the house.

He sent out calming thoughts out to her as he walked her into the kitchen, starting a bond between them, unbeknownst to both of them that were near unheard of.

They had lost many good people that day. The casualties were finally tallied up a few weeks after the carnage was cleaned up. 163 witches and wizards, good and evil alike lost their lives in what became known as the Final Battle of the Dark Lord.

Ginny would never forget her mother’s reaction to the close deaths of the family: Mr. Weasley, Bill, Fred, George, Percy, Mad-Eye Moody and Tonks. How she was in a daze for the following weeks, months it seemed. How she never smiled for the longest time. She would take one look at the now missing hands on the Weasley clock and burst into tears.

Ginny herself wasn’t much better. She turned to Harry a lot during this time and he in turn relied on her to help him grieve. She had never seen him cry so much…

Kingsley Shacklebolt, the new Minister for Magic, Mrs. Weasley, Charlie, and Remus Lupin survived of the Order, which had since disbanded after the war.

It is still unknown how many Death Eaters escaped and returned to their hidden location.

The imperioused people were “awakened” and went to the Ministry for questioning while only three known Death Eaters were unaccounted for: the Carrows, and Rodolphus Lestrange.

Three weeks after the Final Battle, the funerals of the fallen began. Harry tried to attend as many as he could, with Ginny at his side for support.

Three days after the last funeral that Harry and Ginny were to attend, the three remaining Death Eaters attempted an attack on the Burrow.

They kept shouting “Get the blood traitor girl!” between their battles.

Between Charlie, Ron, Hermione, Harry and Ginny they were able to hold them off but they disapparated before they could be captured.

The attack had been a wake up call for Harry and Ginny. They realized that someone had seen her kill Voldemort and she would be in constant danger.

The two of them came to the decision to go into hiding and cut themselves off from the wizarding world. Since Ginny was not of age yet, it would make them traceable, which is not good when you’re in hiding.

The only way to remove it early is to wed someone of age. After explaining the predicament to the family, including the part about Ginny killing Voldemort which turned the tables in their favor, and after many grave discussions, it was agreed upon a few days later and the underage marriage license was signed.

Harry and Ginny were married within the hour at the Ministry of Magic with Mrs. Weasley, Charlie, Ron, Hermione, Kingsley, and Remus as witnesses.

They packed all of their belongings, retrieved some gold from Harry’s, now their, vault and coordinates to one of the many Potter estates.

They headed to one that would be difficult to find and that only the goblins and Remus knew about.  Swanbridge Cottage. It was a small, quaint cottage located about four and a half miles southwest of Cardiff in southeastern Wales. It was located in a muggle town.

They consummated the marriage that evening and in that moment, all was forgotten. They only had each other. The bond that was forged after the battle intensified after their physical act of love. After the whirlwind wedding, things seemed to slowly continue downhill.

It was two and a half weeks after the wedding when the first rude awakenings back from their blissful “honeymoon” bubble happened.

Harry had gone in disguise to the grocery store to restock on food. He was walking back home with the groceries when he happened to glance down at a copy of the South Wales Evening Post, a muggle newspaper, an elderly man was buried into reading.

What he saw made him stop in his tracks. There on the front page was a picture of him, Ron, and Hermione all smiling and waving, judging by his features it was taken in their sixth year.

The title is what made him drop his groceries with a loud thud.

Story Breakdown:
This story follows Harry and Ginny as the lone survivors after the war. In desperate times they decide to travel back to Harry's fourth year before Voldemort is resurrected to eliminate him before he can get too powerful. Their only problem is in this timeline, Voldemort was resurrected in Harry's first year with the Sorcerer's Stone. Not something either of them had anticipated and it makes their job that much harder.

She climbed the stairs to Ron’s room and with a shaky hand she reached for the door. Gasping in pain she yanked her hand back to her side and grit her teeth against the pain. It was then that she noticed her entire body ached. When she stretched out her arm her sides flared up.

She staggered back from Ron’s room as her vision swam. What the hell? She leaned forward, hands on her knees, gasping for air. Harry! She thought frantically. He didn’t reply. It must be him. The bond! He must be unconscious.

She inhaled deeply before standing back up and heading back to her room to throw on some dark jean shorts and a dark purple tank top. My back is killing me! What happened to him? Slipping on some shoes and grabbing her wand she made her way down to the kitchen where the healing potions were.

Laying her wand on the counter she ignored the pain as best she could before bending down, hissing in pain as her back felt as if it’d been split. She grabbed as many healing potions as she could fit in her small thirteen year old hands before she waved her hand over the potions, shrinking them before stuffing them in her pocket.

She checked the Weasley family clock where all of her family’s faces except her own pointed to sleeping. Hers pointed towards home and soon it would point to lost. Hopefully no one would wake and see that…

Sighing sadly, she headed out the front door to the apparation point. Once at the spot she concentrated hard on Harry’s small bedroom at 4 Privet Drive and flamed away.

When she opened her eyes her heart lurched painfully. She felt her eyes widen and the blood drain from her face as she looked at the bloody mess around the room. Oh Merlin! Harry! She called out to him again. Still silence.

A sense of dread filled her as she looked at the blood splattered walls and the small blood pool on the floor. She knew it was Harry’s blood. She closed her eyes and tried to fight down the fear and panic that was threatening to consume her. Why? Why my Harry?

She took a deep breath and let it out in a choked sob. Damn those Dursley’s. He is not staying here any longer.

Inhaling deeply again, ignoring the copper-like smell of blood, she searched for Harry’s presence in the house.

She could feel him here but he was downstairs away from his room. Maybe he’s getting food? She frowned at the closed door. He would have left it open if he was coming back.

Raising her wand in front of her again she walked cautiously to the door, trying not to wake the Dursley’s. She wasn’t sure what she’d do then… I’ve got to find Harry…

She reached for the door, whimpering slightly as the pain flared in her side again. Oh, my love…

Opening the door she glanced to her left down the hallway where she knew the Dursley’s slept. She could easily kill them now for what they did to him. She hated them enough to do it. No one would ever know…

No. She thought firmly. Find Harry first. Take care of them later. She reluctantly turned towards the stairs and climbed down them, careful to avoid the second to the last squeaky stair.

She closed her eyes again to sense where Harry was. Feeling him about two feet from her she turned to her right, horror filling her again. They wouldn’t!

She rushed over to the door that led to the cupboard under the stairs only to find a padlock in place. Fearing what she would find behind the door, she quickly waved her hand hearing the lock click open.

Removing the lock, she sucked in a short breath before quickly opening the door. She wasn’t sure what she expected, perhaps just some cuts and bruises but certainly not someone beaten unrecognizable. Gashes covered his body, freely bleeding. If she couldn’t feel Harry through the bond, she wasn’t sure she’d recognize him…

Closing her eyes again, she tried to rein in her anger at the people upstairs before she lost control. She heard a muffled moan come from where he was laying causing her eyes to flash open at the sound. She hurried to his side; thanking Merlin he was still alive.

Kneeling down next to his head she realized why it sounded muffled. She removed the sock they had gagged him with, tears forming in her eyes, and began to run the standard healer diagnostic test on his tense body.

Several red areas lit up where he was openly bleeding and a few blue areas lit up where there were broken bones. There was a wide green area lit up on his torso where he was internally bleeding.

She quickly got to work and began wandlessly healing the internal bleeding, open wounds and broken bones. Tears slipped down her cheeks when he yelled as she re-broke and set the bones, covering her own whimpers of pain. I’m going to kill them!

Her raging thoughts continued to go a mile a minute while she reached out to lift his shirt up. She tried to reduce as much swelling as she could before she decided to give him some of the potions. She sighed in relief as her pain finally diminished to a lesser extent.

Her back still was sore and flared up again as she moved around the cramped space. She decided to roll him over onto his stomach to heal his back before giving him the potions.

Trying to be gentle with him, she turned him as slowly as she possibly could, easing him onto his stomach before casting some cushioning charms beneath him.

Knowing this was what hurt the worst on her, she was afraid to lift the shirt and see his back. Please don’t let it be too bad…
